19 The Wine Bar

A lovely warm welcome from myself, Tina, my hubby Colin and our fabulous team.

Having not owned a wine bar before, Colin and I have employed an amazing team who do a splendid job of running the bar on a day to day basis. Although, we can often be seen partaking of our wonderful food and drinks. And yes, for those of you that know me, I don’t drink alcohol, so I usually have a cup of coffee close at hand, which I have to say is the best in the area!

The building has great bones, so we wished to honour the essence of the building in our refurbishment. As a grade 2 listed building it started its life, we believe, as a grain store. Converted to a wine bar by the previous owner back in 1984. ‘The wine bar’ as it is referred to has a long and happy history with the local’s in Kendal.

Our aim is to ‘Go Local’ using as many local businesses as possible, sourcing many of our goods from within Cumbria. Always conscious of our environment we are also trying to mitigate as much waste and ‘plastic’ as possible and recycle wherever we can.

We are aiming to offer you affordable quality, in a relax, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, either for a hearty lunch on our lovely outdoor roof terrace or by partaking of our fine wines, local craft beers, and spirits. whilst nibbling our delicious platters and snacks.

We are passionate about 19 The Wine Bar, so we hope you will be too.

I love cycling on our tandem (as it’s the only way I can keep up with Colin, my hubby) Oh and mad about Walking Dead! But seriously when I’m not working with Karl at the bar, I’m currently working hard to launch our new Leadership digital platform called ‘Go Lead’

Not just the maintenance man, honestly! Although I have taken on the role as FD. I’m usually suited and booted and The MD of our business; Berrison, which I’ve done for the last 11yrs. When I’m not doing that you will find me either on my bike or running in the hills.

I feel very fortunate as I love working, especially at The Wine Bar. But when I’m not working, my 14 yr old terrier Mika, whom we nick name ‘The Terrorist’ keeps me busy. It also means I’ve not had a holiday since I’ve had her…wouldn’t have it any other way though!

Assistant Manager

My first love has to be technology, so part of my duties is ‘anything technical’ which means I’ve been involved in redesigning the website, build an online ordering system and reconfigure our tills to suite our needs better. That aside, I love cheese!! So much so I’ve been given a nick name ‘The big Cheese’ (haha)

People tell me I’m very positive, I’m really just a happy person. I love singing and dancing and can often be found happily singing away to myself. As English is my second language, I love reading to improve my vocabulary. I especially enjoy researching new recipes to serve to all our lovely customers.

Born and bred in Kendal, whenever I can, I love to go out running in the hills, , especially with my dog Laszlo. So much so, I like to get involved with challenges such as the 40 mile Keswick2Barrow walking/running event. When I’m not working or running I enjoy going on holidays and drinking with friends.

Bar Supervisor

I love to return and join the team at 19 The Wine Bar when I’m not studying psychology at Uni. Also when I’m home I love to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and walk around the lakes with my dog Bea. As a student I do like to have a drink and socialise with friends.

Irene Airey

House Keeper

Married to Geoff for 50 years, we love going on holiday together. I also like to keep myself active so I regularly go to the gym. I enjoy my job at The Wine Bar and always think it’s a good sign when you want to socialise at the place where you work, which I do regularly. (albeit at a ‘social distance’ for now). When I’m not working or socialising I like to read.

Joanne Mcconnachie

Bar Associate

When I’m not working I like cooking, walking our dog Mika and socialising with my friends.
